Now we can shift the burden of maintaining and supporting your business computer systems and networks to a proactive shared risk model. Managed Services are priced on a flat per month fee schedule that covers all aspects of management, support, and service.

 

At Computer Logistics we have always been customer centered in the way we handle IT and IT billing. Late in the 1980’s we realized that billing for each time we performed a service had a negative impact on our relationship with our customers. This is when we instituted the Pre-bill plans where we would charge a customer in advance, at reduced rates for large time blocks, and then just work against the time block until used up. At the time, we didn’t feel good about charging our customers a flat rate contract with a long list of exceptions which were not covered, in the sense of an insurance policy. We knew that people had a negative feeling towards insurance policies which always had ‘escape clauses’ where the insurance company didn’t have to pay. We felt the most proper and equitable way of billing for IT would be the time blocks, where we charge whatever time we spend on our customers’ problems, regardless of what they were. We simply tell our customers that we were another employee, available whenever needed, but you only have to pay us when needed This is still a good, equitable way of charging for IT.

However, this is still a reactive situation, and both we and our customers realize that whenever we are out at their place, it is costing them money. So we always have the pressure to (1) fix the problems as quick as possible and (2) get out of the customer’s shop, but (3) make sure the problem is completely fixed. In this mode point (1) and (2) often conflict with point (3) plus it is generally difficult to justify doing preventative maintenance.

Now, with advances in technology itself, we are able to come up with a ‘Managed Service” approach where you pay a flat rate, and we keep things running in a proactive manner. This means that we spend as much time as is needed to be sure your systems are running all the time, and if anything goes wrong, it costs us, not you! There are advances now where we can monitor and fix most of your workstation and server problems remotely. We can see problems coming before they happen, and make corrective action accordingly. We can even set up an advanced technology solution whereby we would replace and upgrade existing hardware periodically at no extra cost to you.

Although I am ‘semi-retired’ now, I am proud of the way Rich and the team at Computer Logistics have continually advanced to make this company one of the premiere companies in the industry. They still make it a point to deal fairly and squarely with all their customers, and with this new concept and technology of Managed Services coupled the option of time blocks I heartily recommend them to you.
